Bio
Christian Garcia-Olivo (b. 1988, Santa Barbara, CA) is a bilingual, Latinx, LGBTQ+ artist with immigrant parents and currently resides in San Diego, CA. He works with paint as a versatile, sculptural medium, employing craft techniques and traditions to draw human connections, and explore associations in our visual perception. Using paint not to depict the world but as a material to translate experience.
Christian exhibited his first solo show Untitled 2020 at Bread & Salt, San Diego in December 2020. His work is part of the San Diego Civic Art Collection, Mesa College Library and has exhibited in Italy, Spain and Southern California. Past shows include C-Note at San Diego Art Institute; Site Unseen at the Latin American Art Fair; Palm-Sized Oceans at Permanent Storage Projects in Los Angeles, CA and received Honorable Mention at the Athenaeum’s 28th Annual Juried Exhibition. |
